CROSS-CUTTING THEMES
CALL FOR PAPERS
The purpose of the Cross-Cutting Group is to bring together contributions that
- Fall outside of the thematic groupings for the conference
- Work across and in-between the major themes of this conference, and/or
- Seek to address, through a workshop, symposium, panel discussion or any other innovative format, an issue in international or comparative education.
While the primary value of the Cross-Cutting Grouping as an intellectual space in the conference is that it will allow presenters to pursue an idea or area of investigation that does not clearly fall within the ambit of the major themes for the conference, it is also intended to be a space for innovation.
This innovation can be expressed in the form of an argument that cuts across and/or uses the major themes and/or elements within them. This ‘cutting-across’ may be driven by a topic that is not represented in the major themes or may take the form of a presentation that refers to a number of themes without privileging any.
It may also take the form of a methodological innovation which requires development over more than one session. The grouping is also open to scholars seeking to work in trans-, cross- and inter-disciplinary ways.
Presenters are welcome to contact the convenors to discuss their proposals.
